Raranga Matihiko day 1

Our first day at Waitangi Museum introduced us to a variety of new learning and experiences. After finally arriving after what felt like an eternity for the students on the bus, we arrived at Waitangi and met our instructors for the day. Whaea Karen led us through the grounds, to a place where we could quickly eat some morning tea and receive our name badges for the day.

Upon arriving at the learning centre, we were quickly divided into two groups; group 1 went for a walk first with Whaea Sheree, while group 2 stayed behind for the tutu.

During our tutu, we got to have a go at some really interesting digital technologies, some of which we were familiar with, some of which were completely new to us.

The students all had a turn to have a go at:
  • ScultpGL
  • Autodraw
  • TinkerCad
  • Quiver
  • Greenscreen and
  • Virtual reality 3D painting.
While on our walk with Whaea Sheree, we were able to explore
  • The Treaty Grounds
  • The large war waka
  • Fishing waka
  • The Busby House - where the treaty was signed
  • where Maori used to find all their supplies - wood, food, medicine etc.
We are looking forward to going back there next week Wednesday!
