Matariki

We have been learning Matariki and the different ways we can celebrate it.

The students were given a challenge. They had 10 minutes to find all the materials they needed to make a kite. It had to be natural materials only and the string provided. 

They then had an hour to construct their kite. Everyone had to be a part of the making!  They did an amazing job. Photos of finished projects to come. 

STEAM Learning Term 2

During Term 2, we dedicated each Friday fro STEAM learning. STEAM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Electronics, Arts and Applied Maths. 

On Friday we had rotations happening, some children working on their 3D sculptures, others using Scratch to do some coding, another group using Dash the robot and coding him to drive up a ramp they have created and while a small group was playing a fun "Game of Awesome".

 So much learning and problem-solving were happening in each of the activities.
