Tsunami Warning
Today we had just started in our class garden, when Mrs Davan's phone started the loud civil defense alarm.
The whole school had to evacuate to the big hill opposite the school. We first went back to class to make sure we had our lunch, drink bottles, hats and shoes.
We did a roll call, before finally crossing the road, climbing the farm fence and heading up the hill. It was a tiring walk.
We were there for an hour or so before someone turned up with more water and food for everyone. About 11ish Sir had oeganised some shade for us all and finally we got to move out of the hot sun.
We did some waiata and played games. Some played in the sand and drew pictures.
We couldn't believe our eyes when Sir turned up again with the kai cart and cooked everyone, including the parents and other whanau that joined us, yummy sausage sizzles.
We finally got the all clear. By the time we got back to school, we were so shattered. Lucky it was home time.
